Obituary

Jerry Michael Reeder, age 70, of Castle Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. Born August 16, 1942, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was a son of Virginia Edith Sparks Reeder of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Chester Elmo Reeder. In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by one son, Jerry Michael Reeder II and wife Bethany of Winchester, Kentucky, two daughters, Kimberley Michele Reeder and husband Zachary Perryman of Redwood City, California, and Kathryn Kary Reeder of Morehead, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Ansley Perryman, Abbey Reeder and Clara Reeder. Other survivors include one brother, Guy Mitchell Reeder of Jeffersonville, Indiana; three sisters, George Ann Bailey, Gaythal Hall, and Charlene Jackson, all of Morehead, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; other family and friends. For a number of years, Jerry Michael was a concrete mason in bridge construction and later was the owner and operator of Reeder's Pizza and Game Room at Hayes Crossing. He was a brilliant poker player, a gifted storyteller, and an exceptional builder. Jerry Michael had a strong belief in the value of hard work. Those who love him will remember his moments of warmth and tenderness. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. J. D. Reeder and Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers: Christopher Merritt, Zachary Perryman, Ben Jackson, Bill Hall, Matt Lewis, Nathan Lewis, Chad Sparks, and Bradley Stafford. Honorary Pallbearers: Donnie Oney and Ernie Stevens. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kimberley Reeder, c/o Jerry Michael Reeder Memorial Scholarship Fund, 313 Hillview Avenue, Redwood City, CA 94062. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at Rowan County Senior High School who attended Rodburn Elementary. Visitation: Saturday, September 29, 2012, after 6 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, September 30, 2012, at 1 p.m. Interment: Lee Cemetery
