Obituary

Missouria -Jerri- White Stewart Royse, age 87, of North Tolliver Road, Morehead, Kentucky passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg, Kentucky She was born February 28, 1923, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late James David and Rosa Woods White. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Cora, Maxine, Loretta, George and John, and one granddaughter, Bethany Stewart. Her husband, Oval E. Royse, passed away December 19, 2005. She is survived by two sons, Orville Leston and Sandra Stewart of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Donnie H. and Carole Stewart of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Ovella Sue and Kenneth Jessee of Huntsville, Alabama; five grandchildren, Alan, Melody, Shannon, Eric, and Angela; and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, James White of Phoenix, Arizona, and Donald W. White of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Mrs. Royse was a former employee of Cowden Mfg., Imperial Cleaners, and Martin-s Department Store. Jerri, as she was lovingly known, was an enthusiastic storyteller and musician. She loved all people, especially children, and long after the children became grown-ups, they would visit her often. Jerri relished telling stories and playing the harmonica, dulcimer, and guitar to any audience and was always thrilled to share her talents in a school setting. An active member of the First Baptist Church for more than 50 years, she taught Sunday School for many years. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Mantooth officiating; burial will follow in the Cranston Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Monday, September 27, 2010, 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral: Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 1 p.m. Interment: Cranston Cemetery
