Jeremy Scott Burton, age 23, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Greasy Creek in Carter County. Born October 8, 1993, in Lexington, he is the son of Jimmy and Karen Messer Burton of Morehead. He is survived by his wife, Mary Stevens Burton, whom he wed March 18, 2016, and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child in February. Other survivors include his parents, Jimmy and Karen Burton; two sisters, Wendi Beatty (boyfriend Raymond Newsome) of Flatwoods and Latoria (Lucas) Vanderpool of Morehead; paternal grandmother, Virginia Burton, and maternal grandmother, Connie Messer, both of Morehead, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Hayden Burton; paternal grandfather, Clifford Burton; maternal grandfather, Larry Messer; and an aunt, Judy Jervis. Jeremy graduated from West Carter High School in 2013 and was currently attending the Universal Technical Institute for diesel mechanics in Statesville, North Carolina. He enjoyed working on cars and wanted to eventually own his own shop. Jeremy loved life, his family, hunting with his dad, and shooting guns with his wife. He also loved spending his free time with family and friends. Jeremy will be truly missed by all the lives he has touched. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Bob Buckler officiating. Burial will follow in Whisman Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jeff Mitchell, Michael Hargett, Joey Wright, Tommy Burton, Shane Harris, Joe Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers: Raymond Newsome, Lucas Vanderpool, Thomas Burton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
