Obituary

Jean Skaggs Jones, age 73, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born February 23, 1937, in Elliott County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James and Lula Belle Lewis Skaggs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James E. Skaggs, John B. Skaggs, and Martin D. Skaggs, and two sisters, Edna Lee Skaggs and Juanita Ollis-Thomas. Her husband, Clinton Jones, passed away November 20, 1990. She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Jones of Morehead, Kentucky; one stepdaughter, Patty and Joe White; one grandson, Joey White and his wife Tammy; one granddaughter, Allison Caudill and husband Kyle; and two great grandsons, Zackary White and Kyler Caudill, all of Morehead, Kentucky. Also surviving are four sisters, Lena Sloas, Glenna and Lowell Boggs, Wathena and Glen Boggs, all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and Myrtle and Ronald Martin of Morehead, Kentucky. Jean graduated from Morehead State University in 1964 and retired from teaching in 1994 after 27 years with the Rowan County School system. She was a member of the Morehead First Free Will Baptist Church since 1966. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher and Rev. Brad Bennington officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery Pallbearers: Nephews Marty and Mark Skaggs, Larry and Robert Flannery, Jason and Darrell Boggs, Barry Martin, Jay and James Skaggs. Honorary pallbearers: Patty Mains, Marie Starcher, Kathleen Skeens, Clyde Mays, Wayne Caldwell, Jolene and Sanford Bentley, Delmas Ferguson and Rev. Rick Stone. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 1003, Morehead, KY 40351 Visitation: Tuesday, July 27, 2010, after 6 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
