Jason Lee Hammons, 44, of Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Richmond, passed away on June 4, 2026.
Jason was born on August 23, 1981, in Richmond along with his twin brother Joshua. He was the son of Chester Hammons Jr. and Vickie Froste Hammons. Jason was a graduate of Model Laboratory School. Currently he had been working as an electrician for Williams Electric in Morehead. He loved his job and all the people he worked with.
Jason loved God deeply. He had grown up in The First Baptist Church of Richmond and was currently a member of The Morehead First Church of God. He loved serving his church as a door greeter and played on the church softball league.
His nickname was "Jayboy" and he always had a big smile, as he was helping others and putting them first. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and spending time with his family. Jason always wanted to make others happy, and he loved serving with others, including as a volunteer for Rowan County Christmas nonprofit.
Survivors include his mother: Vickie Hammons; his fiancé: Misty Wyrick; two children: Jaylee Victoria Hammons and Bryson Lee Hammons; two brothers: Chester Hammons III (Kelley) and his twin brother Joshua Gibson Hammons; his aunts: Lois Froste Golson, Nancy Robertson and Judy Luxon; nephews: Chaese, Dylan and Logan Hammons; a niece: Coye Hammons (Wade) and his cousins: Kelly Hoke (Michael) and William T. "Robbie" Robertson II (Jeannetta Fahy) as well as many dear friends. Jason also had his dear canine companions, Dogs: Presley, Bullet and Ace.
Jason was preceded in death by his father: Chester Hammons Jr.; his grandparents: Moss and Marie Froste and Chester and Lucy Hammons; and his aunt: Deborah Norris.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday, June 18, 2026, at The Morehead First Church of God, 576 Sunset Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351 with Pastor Matt Richardson officiating. The family will receive visitors beginning at 4:00 PM on Thursday.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
