Janet Crystal Hinton, age 84, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the home of her daughter.
Born August 26, 1936, in Soldier, she was the daughter of the late James Finley and Reba Jennings Hinton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James R. Hinton, Scotty M. Hinton, and Gentry D. Hinton; son-in-law, Robert Burdick; and daughter-in-law, Sharon McBrayer Charles.
She is survived by five children, Jeffrey Charles (Beverly) of Morehead, Michael Charles of Mt. Sterling, Donna Charles Burdick of Olive Hill, Joseph Charles (Bobbi), and Jerry Charles, all of Morehead; five grandchildren, Jennifer Burdick Thomas (Jason), Ashley Charles Layton (Russell), Jessica Charles, Christopher Burdick (Megan), and Becca Charles; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Janet is also survived by 10 siblings, Morris D. Hinton (Marge) of Wellington, Ohio, Dale W. Hinton (Linda) of Middleburg, Florida, Jerry E. Hinton (Sally) of Hillsboro, Ohio, Linda Hinton Clouse of Morehead, Wanda S. Porter (Ora) of Cicero, Indiana, Sondra K. Elkins of Mt. Sterling, Danny L. Hinton (Colette) of Olive Hill, Teresa A. Wheeler (Reginald) of Morehead, Jennifer S. Morrison (James) of Winter Haven, Florida, and Ricky L. Hinton of Lexington; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Janet graduated from Huntington Barber College in 1979 and cut hair for more than 20 years. She attended Haldeman Church of God, where she enjoyed singing with the congregation. Spending time with family brought her immense joy and she was known for deep generosity. Janet loved reading, gardening, and cooking, especially for others.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin and Brother John B. Carter officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed beginning at 3 p.m. on the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
COVID-19 mandates as set forth by the Governor will be observed.
