James Terrell Wilhoit, age 90, of Rockvale, Tennessee, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Mr. Wilhoit was born June 18, 1922, in Hillsboro, Texas, the son of Ollie Lee and A. Z. Terrell Wilhoit. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Terrell Wilhoit II of Louisiana; brothers Edgar Wilhoit and Floyd Wilhoit and sister Margie Wells, all of Texas. Jim is survived by his wife of almost 36 years, Lucille McKenzie Wilhoit of Rockvale, Tennessee; daughter Marta Lynn (Kerry) Dupre of Denham Springs, Louisiana; stepson F. M. (Sherry Ramsey) Hall of Rockvale, Tennessee; grandson James Brunet of Denham Springs, Louisiana; granddaughters Meagan Hall of Seattle, Washington, and Chelsea Hall of Asheville, North Carolina; great grandchildren Kyle Brunet, Katelin Brunet, and Ethan Brunet, all of Denham Springs, Louisiana; other relatives and friends. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps on Okinawa and Ryukyu Islands and in China. He was employed with the Columbia Gas System in 1952 and retired as superintendent of the Morehead office of that natural gas transmission company in 1984. Mr. Wilhoit was a member of the Morehead First Church of God and a Church of God in Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tim McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Bobby McKenzie, Brian McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, Terry McKenzie, Michael Swertfager, Dan Reeder, and Andrew McKinney.
