James Dane Pennington, Sr., age 56, of Fall Lane, Clearfield, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born August 18, 1969, in Morehead, he was a son of the late Stella Hay Pennington. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Dale Pennington.

James is survived by his loving companion of 24 years, Lottie Fyffe Lyons of Clearfield; four children, James Pennington, Jr. of Morehead, Jessica Pennington of Mt. Sterling, Ashley Pennington and Amy Pennington, both of Clearfield; and three stepchildren, Trey Lyons and Angel Lyons, both of West Liberty, and Raymond Bishop of Clearfield.

Other survivors include one brother, Joseph Porter of Georgia; special nieces and nephew, Karena Saylor, Zarah McGuire, and Robert "RJ" Wilson; special cousins, Monty Rivers, Chris White, Todd Collins, and Shawn Collins; as well as other extended family members and friends.

James was a retired Rowan County constable serving from 1994 to 2011 and was former employee of Summit Polymers and Hardee's. He was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle in Elliottville. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking, playing guitar, singing, working on cars, and riding bicycles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Clyde Mays and Pastor Arnold Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennington Family Cemetery on Fall Lane in Clearfield.

Pallbearers will be Chris White, Monty Rivers, David Fyffe, Raymond Bishop, Elijah Saylor, Michael Williamson, Casey Jones, and Robert Wilson.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until the hour of service on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
