Obituary

James Scott Mullen, 50, of Winchester, KY, husband of Susan Birch Mullen, passed away at 8:29 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. A native of Rowan County, KY, he was born April 21, 1959, the son of Bill Mullen of Morehead, KY, and Janice Law Manley of Winchester, KY. Mr. Mullen was employed by L-3 Communications and was the owner of Homeplace Restoration and Homeplace Nursery and co-owner of the Winchester Flea Market. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. Additional survivors include a son, Robert Collins of TX; 2 daughters, Stacey Mullen of TX and Krystal (Josh) Pasley of Winchester, KY; 1 granddaughter, Kaitlynn Montgomery of TX; 2 brothers, Dave (Sue) Mullen of Winchester, KY and Tommy Mullen of Irvine, KY; 2 sisters, Debi -Star- Johnson of Winchester, KY and Donna (James) Wallace of Morehead, KY; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins including Hannah and Jeremiah Thompson, Amy and Cole Caldwell, David Mullen Jr., Billy and Amanda Mullen, Michael and Candice Mader and Parker Mullen. Mr. Mullen was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Mullen, and stepfather, Abe Manley. Visitation for Mr. Mullen will be Sunday, December 20, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester, KY. Visitation will also be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2009, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, KY. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jess Brewer and Bro. Wayne Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Rowan County. Pallbearers will be Tommy Mullen, Josh Pasley, Timmy Whittle, Gary Kerns, Chuck Adams, Billy Mullen, Jeremiah Thompson and Mark Law. Honorary pallbearers will be E. R. Johnson and Tom Brinegar. Visitation: Monday, December 21, 2009, 5 - 8 p.m., Northcutt & Son, Morehead; Sunday, December 20, 2009, 5-7 p.m. Scobee, Winchester Funeral: Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 11 a.m., Northcutt & Son Interment: Brown Cemetery
