James Ralph 'Mickey' Madden, age 86, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born July 20, 1929, in Soldier, he was a son of the late Clyde and Stella Patton Madden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Elmer Madden, and two sisters, Maude Hodge and Wilma Jones. Mickey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Bailey Madden, whom he wed June 1, 1957; two daughters, Beverly Gilliam and husband David and Brenda Alderman and husband Jerry, all of Morehead; three grandchildren, Bristol Snelling, Matthew Alderman, and Tessa Gilliam; and one great granddaughter, Eden Wren Snelling. Other survivors include one brother, Willard Madden of New Castle, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. Mickey served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and retired from Morehead State University in 1992 as a heating and water plant operator. He had also managed the Hayes Crossing Sunoco and was a former employee of Barker Guns and Knives, Keeton's Paint and Wallpaper, and C & O Railroad. Mickey was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Soldier Masonic Lodge 708, and Johnson First Church of God. He enjoyed telling jokes, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mickey enjoyed spending time with family, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Furman and Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Trumbo Cemetery in Carter County with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers: David Gilliam, Jerry Patrick, Todd Patrick, Matthew Alderman, Paul Gilliam, and Thomas Snelling. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Masonic services presented at 7:30 p.m. by Soldier Masonic Lodge 708. Visitation: Monday, October 19, 2015, 4 pm; Masonic Service, 7:30 pm Funeral: Tuesday, October 20, 2015, 1 pm, Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel Interment: Trumbo Cemetery, Carter County
