James Mitchell Metcalf, age 80, of Wellington, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg, Kentucky. Born April 17, 1932, in West Salem, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ernest and Dorothy Wilson Metcalf. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa 'Missy' Metcalf and Lloyd Stone of Wellington, Kentucky; two sons, Mark Metcalf and Michael Metcalf, both of Hanover Park, Illinois; and three granddaughters, Olivia Stone, Hailey Metcalf, and Ciara Metcalf. Jim served in the U. S. Air Force and the U.S. Army from 1955-62 and retired as a computer technician from both IBM in Cleveland, Ohio, and Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois. He moved to Kentucky in 2006 to be close to his daughter and to enjoy nature and the beautiful outdoors. For many years, he received great joy from hunting, fishing, and gardening. Jim will be sadly missed by his devoted family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Wade Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers. Visitation is Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
