James E. -Jimmy- Smedley, age 54, of Lodge Hall Hill, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident in Soldier, Kentucky. Born December 19, 1955, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, he is the son of Evalee Wilder Smedley of Soldier, Kentucky, and the late Murlin Smedley. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy Wagoner Smedley, whom he married September 4, 1976; three daughters, Alicia and Michael Manier of Newaygo, Michigan, Jillian and Billy Jones of Soldier, Kentucky, and Katrina Smedley and Brian Crank of Clearfield, Kentucky, and four grandchildren, Lea Manier, Michael Manier, Jr., Hayden Gee, and Jaden Gee. Other survivors include one brother, Mike Smedley of Haldeman, Kentucky; two sisters, Gail and Paul Hussey of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Teresa and Jamey Lee of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. Jimmy was a carpenter with Local Union 472 in Ashland, Kentucky. Jimmy enjoyed farming, riding horses, being outdoors, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, with Rev Joe Ruley and Randy Raybourn officiating. Burial will follow in Smedley - Wagoner Cemetery in Soldier, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Timmy Highley, Sherman Wagoner, Joey Meade, Papaw -Carl Ed-, Harry Clark, Jr., Brandon Lee, and Travis Clark. Visitation is after 7 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010, and anytime Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
