James Rhondell -Jimmy- Markwell, age 53, of KY 801 North, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at his mother-s residence. Born April 16, 1958, in Fayette County, Kentucky, he is the son of Alfetta Thomas Markwell of Morehead, Kentucky and the late James Perry -Jimmy- Markwell, who passed away March 17, 2010. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Megan Dawn Sloan, on September 18, 2008. In addition to his mother Alfetta, Jimmy is survived by one son, Jonathan Matthew Markwell of Morehead, Kentucky; one stepson, Jeremy Tyler Sargent of Daytona, Florida; two sisters, Jennifer Markwell Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky, and Valerie Jill Armstrong of Stafford, Virginia; two nephews, Jeremy Sloan and Dylan Johnson; two nieces, Tanya Dawn Rowan and Alexandria Quarles; and many good friends. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from 1976-1980 and was a former employee of A. O. Smith, Kentucky Saw, and Ken-Mor Stone. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, horses, football, U.K. basketball, watching Nascar racing and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery with full military rites by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
