James Eldon Ison, age 88, of Rawcel Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born October 28, 1923, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late George W. Ison and Rissie Alice Adkins Ison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arnold Ison, Earl Ison, and Donnie Ison; and two sisters, Loretta Sparkman and Eva Ann Ison Kissick. James is survived by his wife of 16 years, Luerene Pennington Caudill Ison; one stepson, Dr. Jerry Caudill and wife Stella of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two stepdaughters, Debbie Caudill Schellenger and husband David of Portland, Oregon, and Sherry Caudill Kopp and husband Robert of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren, Sarah Arnett, Harrison Caudill, and Lawson Caudill; and one special great granddaughter, Audree Arnett. Also surviving are two brothers, Rev. Cecil Ison and Ival Ison, both of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Darlene Morehouse of Batavia, Ohio, and Carol Foster of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews. James retired from Lee Clay Products Company in Clearfield, Kentucky, and was of the Christian faith. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison and the Rev. Vernon Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawson Caudill, Harrison Caudill, Robert Kopp, Michael Ison, Eddie Ison, and Glenn Ison. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Dean Ison, Jeff Kissick, Vernon Tackett, Simon Eldridge, Jr., Leona Tackett, Nadine Downing, Sandra Plank, Renita Jackson, and Stella Caudill.
