Obituary

James Lowell Ellington, age 76, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at the U.K. Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born November 30, 1931, at Zilpo, Kentucky, in Bath County, and was the son of the late William Taylor and Mildred Marie Williams Ellington. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Ellington and Donald Ellington. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley Stewart Ellington, whom he wed September 9, 1955; two daughters, Cheri Waltz and husband Randy of Morehead, Kentucky, and Carla Richardson and husband Jeff of Versailles, Kentucky; one sister, Alma Bellamy of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Randa Hall, Chris Waltz, Kyle Richardson, Cheri Rogers, and Megan Waltz; and four great grandchildren, James Avory Rogers, Katlyn Waltz, Hayden Rogers, and Jacob Rogers. Mr. Ellington served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was a retired supervisor for the Kentucky Cabinet for Manpower Services. He was a life member of the Kentucky Long Rifles of Morehead and a member of the Kentucky-s Corps of Long Riflemen. He attended Johnson Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Furman and the Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Chris Waltz, Kyle Richardson, Donnie Hall, John Rogers, Derek Howard, and Greg Bellamy. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Johnson First Church of God Oval Stidom Scholarship or Johnson First Church of God Youth Group, 590 Cranston Road, Morehead, KY 40351. Visitation: Sunday, July 13, 2008, after 4 p.m. Funeral: Monday, July 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Mausoleum
