James Edward "Jim" Thompson, age 62, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at UK–St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born January 9, 1964, in Waukegan, Illinois, Jim was a son of the late William Thompson and Mary Jo Gevedon Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Dale Thompson and Anthony Carl Thompson.
Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lisa Anderson Thompson, whom he married March 29, 1987; one son, Richard Allen Thompson (Kirsten) of Clearfield; four daughters, Melissa Marie Thompson (Silver) and Tiffany Skaggs (Brandon), both of Morehead, Angel McCray (Dylan) of Elizabethtown, and Melanie Thompson of Clearfield; and eight grandchildren, Chase Noah Easton, Curtis Hamlin, Logan Hamlin, Gabriel Thompson, Zelda Thompson, Isadora Thompson, Larissa McCray, and Jackson McCray.
Additional survivors include two brothers, William Thompson, Jr. of Clay City and Dave Thompson of Stanton; two sisters, Becky Luman of Springfield, Tennessee, and Patricia Pardue of Nashville, Tennessee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Jim proudly served his country with two years of service in the United States Army and three years in the National Guard. He was a self-employed carpenter and drywaller by trade. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, working on his computer, and playing video games. Above all, Jim loved studying and reading his Bible.
Jim was a loving husband, father, brother, and papaw, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Glen Maschino officiating. Immediately following the service, Morehead American Legion Post 126 will present full military honors at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
