James Edward Chapman, age 79, of Mountain View Apartments, Morehead, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015. He was born October 22, 1936, in Miamisburg, Ohio, a son of the late James Clyde and Lottie Stamper Chapman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Chapman. James is survived by one son, Van Edward 'Eddie' Chapman and wife Mollie of Morehead; one daughter, Etta Carol Chapman of Morehead; and two brothers, Charles Chapman and wife Jerri of Means and Marty Chapman and wife Gail Jean of Morehead. He also leaves behind Alberta Chapman, Danny and Danielle Stewart, Elizabeth and Mike Williams, Brandi and Darrin Brooks, and Wilder Williams; extended family; and friends. James proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years and retired in 1996 from the U.S. Army Reserve after 20 years of military service. He was a member of Morehead American Legion Post 126 and enjoyed walking and fishing. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers.
