Jackie Dewayne Jent, age 71, of Ledgebrook Drive, Morehead, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 4, 2025, following an extended illness.
Born on December 20, 1953, in Morehead, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Ervin Jent and Bessie Stafford Jent. In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Jent and Phillip Jent, and one nephew, Clifton Ray Jent.
Jackie is survived by his loving wife, Janie Harris Jent; three sons, Jodie (Heather) Jent of Owingsville, Toby (Kim) Jent of Morehead and Jacob Jent of Morehead; his "girl," Shay (Robbie) Leach of Winchester; and five grandchildren, Jace, Noah and Baylee Jent and Ryder and Raelynn Leach.
He is also survived by one brother, Robert (Pam) Jent of Morehead; four sisters, Kay (Mike) Rosser of Flemingsburg, Linda (Bill) Reed of Morehead, Brenda Stanley of Morehead, and Cathy Pennington of Sandy Hook; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jackie was the owner and operator of Jent Trucking for many years. Known for his dedication and strong work ethic, he also retired from Larry Fannin Chevrolet and Packs, Inc. He attended Elliottville Baptist Church.
Jackie was an avid drag racer who spent many weekends at the track. He instilled his love for racing in his sons and grandson. He made many lifelong friends and seldom met a stranger. A devoted husband, father, brother, and "Papaw," Jackie's greatest joy came from time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Willie Sturgill and Brother Glennis Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Mike Adkins, Ronnie Kissinger, Randy Hall, Wayne Jent, Darrell Thompson, Allen Brown. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Reed and Mike Rosser.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
