Jackie D. Cottrell, 71, of Morehead, KY, passed away October 4, 2017, at his home of three years. He was formerly of Newton, WV. He was born July 1, 1946, at Oka, Calhoun County, WV, a son of the late Maxwell D. and Imogene Lloyd Cottrell. Jackie was also preceded in death by his brothers, Clifton, Joseph, Ralph, Lloyd, and Gerald Stanley; sister, Sandra King; and grandson, Shawn Michael Burdette. Jackie was a retired employee of Vecellio & Grogan, Inc. of Beckley, WV, and a member of USWA Local 14614. He was a member of Newton United Methodist Church. Family, hunting, fishing, and his dogs were his favorite pastimes. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Nancy Vineyard Cottrell, son, Jackie "Jay" Cottrell II (Tish) of Morehead, KY; daughters, Michele Salisbury (Teddy) of Clay, WV, Kristi Burdette (Jimmy) of Newton, WV, Misti Naylor (Jeffery) of Elkview, WV; twin brother, Mackie (Patricia) of Mogadore, OH; sisters, Mary Patchin (Jerry) of Hartville, OH, Elizabeth (Cary) Ehrenfeld of Tamarac, FL; grandchildren, Brittany McClain, Casey Burdette, Emily (Alex) Hersman, Brianna Cottrell, Alexis Naylor, and Olivia Naylor; brother-in-law, Neal Vineyard of Newton, WV; sisters-in-law, Edith Cottrell of Wheeling, WV, and Nancy Cottrell of Atwater, OH; special family friend, Elizabeth McClure of Morehead, KY. A graveside celebration of life will be held at a later date. Final resting place will be at the Cottrell Cemetery, Cottrell Rd., Chloe, WV.
