Jack Lane McBrayer, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at the age of 89.  To most everyone Jack will be remembered for running McBrayer's Ben Franklin Store in Morehead, a store he owned with his late sister, Pauline McBrayer Ellington.

Born July 1, 1934, to the late James Earl McBrayer and Martha Pettit McBrayer.  He was a lifelong Rowan County resident and active community member.  Jack graduated from Breckinridge Training School in 1952 and attended Morehead State University.

Marie Curie said that "every man dies, but not every man really lives".  Jack McBrayer knew how to live.  He was an avid hobbyist, inventor and a life-long learner.  No matter the subject, he always knew at least a little about it and probably had a good story to go along with it.

Jack is survived by his wife, Deborah Jackson McBrayer of Morehead, Kentucky; a son, Brian Lane McBrayer (Karen McBrayer) of Georgetown, Kentucky; and two daughters, Melisa Patrick (Jeff Patrick) and Leslie Wells (Greg Wells), all of Morehead, Kentucky. Along with his children and their spouses, he is survived by eight grandchildren, Gaige Pratt, Tanner Pratt, Ben McBrayer, Jameson McBrayer, Harper Wells, Devon Wells, Chloe Patrick, and J.D. Patrick; three great grandchildren, Elyse Wilson, Parker McBrayer, and Lincoln McBrayer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, George Ann Barker McBrayer.

Visitation for Jack McBrayer will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. A life celebration service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating.

His stories, smiles, and advice will be truly missed.
