Ivis Saul Black, age 88, of CCC Trail, Morehead, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born June 6, 1935, he was a son of the late Lemuel Black and Bessie Kidd Black.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Jones.

Ivis is survived by his wife, Shirley Kegley Black, whom he married on January 12, 1956; one son, Michael Black and wife Deborah; and one daughter, Patricia Stigall and husband Elmo Jr., all of Morehead; five grandchildren, Chad Black, Marvin Lee Hitch, Ritchie Black, Kelley Runner, and Rachel Lynn Lowe; and 11 great grandchildren.

He also leaves behind two brothers, Wayne Black and wife Judith and Lemuel Black, Jr.; one sister, Leona Jones, and a special friend, Andy B. Slusher, all of Morehead; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Ivis was a lifelong farmer and self-employed carpenter.  He enjoyed the outdoors, mowing and working around the house and most of all spending time with his family.

He attended the Slab Camp Christian Church.  Ivis will be greatly missed and remembered with love.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Herbert D. Lewis officiating.  Burial will follow in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Tanner Bowman, Ritchie Black, Chad Black, Marvin Lee Hitch, Evan Lowe and Timmy Black.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
