Ivan Markwell, age 83, of Bull Fork Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at his home. He was born April 10, 1928, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late David Owen and Luana Eldridge Markwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Levi, Willie, Hinton, Ervin, Carl, Russell, and Clyde Markwell, as well an infant boy, and four sisters, Martha Jane Curtis, Ina Wagoner, Ada Mae Pence and Lydia Markwell. Ivan is survived by his wife of 51 years 7 months and 18 days, Clela Williams Markwell, whom he wed May 21, 1960, and one daughter, Cindy Kay Markwell Frazier and husband Shannon of Leicester, North Carolina. Ivan is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Ivan was a lifelong farmer and attended the United Baptist Church and the Sharkey First Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel 9 a.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012, with the United Baptist Elders officiating and at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012, with Brother Charlie Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Eldridge Cemetery. Pallbearers: Orville Little, Danny Hamilton, Lowell Manning, Danny Caudill, Woody Black, and Darrell Martin. Honorary Pallbearers: Willie Lee Pennington, Franklin Caudill, Glen Hyatt, Marvin Black, Rufus Williams, and Dale Richmond. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
