Obituary

Ivan Dillon, 90, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Clearfield.

Born February 26, 1934, at home on Craney Creek in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Dillon and Ada Mae Moore Dillon.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Cletis Elmer Dillon, Charles Junior Dillon, Lonnie Jay Dillon, and one sister, Nina Faye Templeman.

His wife of 65 years, Mary Alice Slone Dillon, preceded him in death on November 24, 2020.

Ivan is survived by two sons, Michael Dillon and Kenneth (Nancy) Dillon; one daughter, Teresa (Duane) Wilson, all of Clearfield; eight grandchildren, Amie (Jody) Davis, Rachael (Justin) Childers, Brandon (Kellie) Dillon, Matthew (Julie) Dillon, Adam (Jennifer) Dillon, Blake (Mykaylee) Dillon, Christopher (Amber) Wilson, and Eric (Whitney) Wilson; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Other survivors include one brother, Corbett Dillon of Olive Hill; two sisters, Mildred Irene Crisp of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Monnie Kay Hamilton of Morehead; several nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and many friends.

Ivan was known as an excellent mechanic and worked at many establishments throughout his life. In 1992, Ivan finished his career as mechanic for The City of Morehead retiring after 15 years of service, where he made many lifelong friendships.

He was a member of Clearfield Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching UK basketball and NASCAR. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his family, especially with his great and great-great grandchildren. He will forever be remembered and loved.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Luther Thomack officiating.  Burial will follow in Crix Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Versel Dillon, Brian Dillon, Sean Dillon, Ronnie Dillon, Eric Hamilton and Jody Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy B. Slusher and Cecil Cornett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
