Hubert Ernest Trent, age 85, of Elliottville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2007, in LaGrange, Kentucky. He was born December 30, 1921, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Theodore Trent and Clara Conn Trent. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice; his brother Edward; and his sons, Ernie and Raymond. He is survived by his sister, Geneva Williams; his son, Jim; his daughters, Patti Jo Mallock, Judy Brockman and Sue Anne Kimble; his stepsons, Clarke, Mike, Jim and Tim Thomas; his stepdaughter, Merry Kay Goodan; his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hubert was a retired electrician who enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends, neighbors and family. He was a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant. While serving in World War II, he and his B-17 crew completed 21 bombing missions in the European theatre of operations. On his last mission in 1943, his aircraft crash-landed in France. He evaded capture and with the help of the French Resistance managed to return to England in 1944. He was awarded the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that you hug a child, care for a pet and help your fellow man however you can, just as he did during his life.
