Howard Janora 'Jan' Gulley, age 75, of Heritage Place, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born February 28, 1938, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late William Harvey and Flora Buckner Gulley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Alvie, Elbert, Avery, Harold, and Wilson Gulley, and four sisters, Elenora Nickell, Faye Brown, Arlene Fraley, and Barbara Lewis. Jan is survived by his special companion of twelve years, Betty Butler; two daughters, Nancy Gibson Pope and husband James of Petersburg, Indiana, and Amy Gulley Sullenberger and husband Verl of Union City, Indiana; five grandchildren, Amber, Catherine, Austin, Zyathan, and Brandon; and several great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, Carl Gulley of Muncie, Indiana, and William Gulley of Richmond, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family members; and friends. Jan was a self-employed contractor, specializing in heating and air conditioning and roofing, and worked primarily in Richmond, Indiana. He loved listening to Bluegrass Gospel music and attending family reunions. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church for many years and loved to share the gospel with others. He also published a book about his experiences of soul winning. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel with Pastor Arnold Ison and Brother Tony Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Gulley, Tom Gulley, Dallas Brown, Tony Butler, Cliff Lewis, and Harry Gulley.
