Obituary

Homer Harold "Pete" Kelsey, age 74, formerly of Morehead, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at Gallatin Nursing and Rehabilitation in Warsaw, Kentucky. Born September 9, 1943, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Willie Creighton Kelsey and Zona Elizabeth Brown Kelsey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lanny Wayne Kelsey, Johnny "Hank" Kelsey (Deloris), Willie Cecil "Boo" Kelsey, and Dale Edward Kelsey. Pete is survived by two daughters, Diana (Jerry) Beamon and Anita "JuneBug" (Jeff) Wells; two grandchildren, Skylar Howard and Jerra Howard; and seven siblings, Anna Thomas (Oakley) Gover of Somerset, Gail Jean (Marty) Chapman of Morehead, Earl (Judy) Kelsey of Morehead, Cheryl Lynn (Alden) McDaniel of Kitts Hills, Ohio, JoAnn (Gary) Bazell of Kitts Hills, Ohio, Debbie Kelsey Fannin of South Point, Ohio, and Larry Kelsey of Morehead. Pete was a former machinist at Browning Mfg., truck driver for Point Express, and for many years was a construction worker building homes. He had been an employee of Sandia Labs in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He enjoyed camping, bonfires, fishing, and playing his guitar. "Wildwood Flowers" was one of his favorite songs to play. Pete also loved Bluegrass music and listened to it at every opportunity. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Kelsey Cemetery, Pleasant Valley Road, Morehead, with the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead is caring for arrangements.
