Obituary

Hobert L. Ramey, age 91, formerly of Pleasant Valley, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. He was born August 11, 1920, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Henry and Vina Ramey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Craig Baldridge; three brothers, Arthur Ramey, Morrow Ramey, and Bridget Ramey; and one sister, Sissy Ramey. His wife of 64 years, Leah Armitage Ramey, preceded him in death on November 21, 2009. Mr. Ramey is survived by three daughters, Karen Collins, Rosemary Jones, and Erna Gay Wells and husband Bob, and one son, Gilbert Ramey, all of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Michael and Paul Ramey, Kimberly Collins, Karla Lambert, and Kari Mauk; and six great grandchildren, Laken and Chase Ramey, Karli Baldridge, Kevin and Trinity Lambert, and Aleah Mauk. Mr. Ramey, a very proud U.S. Army veteran, served over four years. He was involved in Battles in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He earned several decorations and citations including the EAME Theater Ribbon W/6 Bronze Stars, Bronze Arrowhead, Croix De Guerre W/Palm and American Defense Service Medal, A loyal employee of Carr Lumber Company for over 40 years, Mr. Ramey enjoyed helping others. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Allan Hutchinson and Rev. Ben Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Carr and Wales Trent. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Monday, August 15, 2011, after 4 p.m. Funeral: Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
