Herbert Ray Lewis, age 72, of Riddle Fork, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at his residence. Born February 9, 1937, in Vale, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Talmadge Ray and Jeannie D. Coffee Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert Odis Lewis, Calvin McKee Lewis and Raymond Lewis, and a sister, Lenora Lewis. His wife, Irene Kidd Lewis, passed away November 11, 1997. Mr. Lewis is survived by two sons, Allen Glenn Lewis of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Herbert D. -Herbie- Lewis and wife Judy Perry Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Patty Lewis of Clearfield, Kentucky; and a grandson, Perry Ray Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky. Other survivors include five brothers, Richard Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, Roger Lewis of Shelby, Ohio, Carl Lewis of Kernersville, North Carolina, Junior Lewis of Georgetown, Ohio, and David Lewis of Clearfield, Kentucky; four sisters, Faye Callahan of Morehead, Kentucky, Anna Mae Lewis of Clearfield, Kentucky, Marie Wisecup of Fairborn, Ohio, and Marcella Bradford of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Lewis was a Union Laborer for the Local 1445 in Ashland, Kentucky. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, carpentry, and most of all attending church. He was a 47 year member of the Upper Dry Creek Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, October 31. 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price, Rev. Gary Madden, and Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Ditney Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Barker, Doug Caldwell, Clifford -Tippy- Price, Gale Thornsberry, McKee Lewis, Larry Hamm, Bill Arrowood, and Perry Ray Lewis. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009, and anytime Friday, October 30, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Ditney Cemetery Association, 150 South Lane, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
