Helen Janet Swan Bastin, age 81, of Green Valley Acres, Morehead, formerly of Florida, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at her residence. Born November 4, 1934, in Liberty, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Raymond Swan and Alice Kelly Swan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Theodore 'Ted' Neill; second husband, Donald Bastin; and a sister, Judith Cotton. Mrs. Bastin is survived by one son, Jim (Julia) Neill of Morehead; two daughters, Sara (Sam) Gill of Auburndale, Florida, and Jennifer Kelly of Hillsboro, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Brian Gill, Chris Neill, and Marie Reynolds; and one great granddaughter, Harper Reynolds. She was a retired office manager for Mid-Florida Lumber in Bartow, Florida, and enjoyed crocheting, reading, working crosswords, playing card games, and spending time with her family. She would like to be remembered as a loving mom and grandmother, a caring and giving person with a good sense of humor. At her request, there will be no visitation; a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
