Helen M. Porter Thomas, age 76, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the residence of her nephew Herman Conn. Born October 7, 1941, in Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Harlan and Gladys Harper Porter. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Thomas II, on January 2, 2010; two brothers, Clyde Porter and Clinton Porter; and one sister, Eunice Porter Fraley. Helen is survived by one son, David Mike Deason of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Crystal Deason, Michael Shawn Deason, Matthew Deason, and Katelyn Fountain; and three great grandchildren, Gracie Paige Holbrook, Bentley Littleton, and Weston Littleton, all of Olive Hill. Also surviving are one sister, Allene Conn of Morehead; one brother, Clifford Porter and wife Ella Mae of Elliottville; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Lemaster Porter and Bernice Deaton Porter, both of Olive Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was a homemaker and had worked at Sealmaster, Cowden's Sewing Factory, and Gene Cases. She enjoyed going to church, woodworking, quilting, and most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who treasured time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and attended Porter Creek Church of God. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Brother Vaughn Thornsberry officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Herman Conn, Larry Porter, John Porter, Doug Porter, Bob Reynolds, and T. J. Wallace.
