Hazel M. Helphinstine, 78, of Mooresville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Mrs. Helphinstine was born December 21, 1934, in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Samuel Paul and Rosa Etta (Jacobs) Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie, James, and Jack Baker, and two sisters, Dorothy Evelyn Meade and Rosa Pauline Tomlin. Her husband, Jerry I. Helphinstine, whom she married December 21, 1963, passed away January 31, 2010. Survivors include her children, Karyn Lawrence and her husband Dale of Mooresville and Jerry 'Cowboy' Helphinstine, II and his wife Gloria of Mooresville; brother, Homer Baker of Logan, West Virginia; sister, Joan Boyd of North Carolina; grandchildren, Joshua and Jesse Lawrence and Kayla Schmidt. Hazel graduated from Logan High School in 1954 and had been employed at the G.C. Murphy store in Logan. After moving to Mooresville, Mrs. Helphinstine worked for Automotive Armature. She was an avid bowler and member of the USBC. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and camping with her family. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Kentucky.
