Obituary

Hazel Marie Williams Bowling, age 97, of Old U.S. 60 East, Olive Hill, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 26, 1921, in Elliott County, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Davis Williams and Renée Belle Blythe Williams. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clarence Bowling, and a daughter, Betty Ann Bowling Binion. Mrs. Bowling is survived by one daughter, Joan Whitt of Estero, FL; three sons, David Bowling of Grahn, Manuel Bowling of Olive Hill, and Rex Bowling of Green Mountain, NC; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. During the World War II Era, Hazel worked in Michigan, alongside other women, known as "Rosie the Riviters," building B-24 bombers. She was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Limestone Apostolic Church. Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Rick Crank officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Carter County. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
