Obituary

Harvard C. Alfrey, age 94, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born April 7, 1918, in Yale, Kentucky, in Menifee County, a son of the late Allen L. Alfrey and Katherine Johnson Alfrey Murphy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Millie Ann Johnson, who also helped raise him, and four brothers, Jackie Alfrey, James Alfrey, Edward Alfrey, and Luther Hatton. Ruby Mildred Robinson Alfrey, his wife of 69 years, whom he wed February 23, 1937, passed away April 3, 2006. Mr. Alfrey is survived by his four daughters, Yvonne Quesinberry of Morehead, Kentucky, wife of the late John Quesinberry; Charlotte Raines, of Goshen, Ohio, wife of the late Clyde Raines; Linda Metze of Pleasant Plain, Ohio, wife of the late Robert Metze; and Deborah Dean and husband Edward Dean of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, John Quesinberry and wife Dana of Morehead, Kentucky, and Harvard Bourque of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Will Quesinberry, Maggie Quesinberry, Charlotte Dubose, and Robert Bourque; and two great-great grandchildren, Connor and Mackinzie Dubose. Other survivors include one brother, Willard Alfrey and wife Shirley of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Charlene Slone of Memphis, Tennessee, wife of the late Shade Slone; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Mr. Alfrey, a former U.S. Forest Service employee, manned the Tater Knob Tower for many years. Later he ran the D. B. Frampton Tie Yard in Clearfield and retired as a lumber grader and foreman from Homer Gregory Lumber Company. He also enjoyed farming and spent many happy hours fishing. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Ginter Cemetery in Menifee County. Pallbearers: Edward Dean, Harvard Bourque, John Quesinberry, Will Quesinberry, Scot Metze, and Everett Wallace. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Sunday, August 5, 2012, 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral: Monday, August 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment: Ginter Cemetery, Menifee County, KY
