Guy Mitchell Reeder, age 60, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014, at his residence. Born April 18, 1954, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Chester Elmo and Virginia Edith Sparks Reeder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Michael Reeder. Guy is survived by one daughter, Amber Leigh Reeder Jardno and her husband, Jason, of Midland, Michigan, and two step grandchildren, Kylee Renee and Gavin Joseph Jardno. Other survivors include three sisters and their husbands, George Ann and W. G. Bailey, Gaythal and Bill Hall, and Charlene and Ben Jackson, all of Morehead; four nieces; and two nephews. Guy was a 1972 graduate of Rowan County High School and served in the U.S. Army for 16 years, as a senior drill sergeant at Anniston Army Depot, Anniston, Alabama, and as an air traffic controller at Fort Rucker, Ozark, Alabama. He retired with the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. After retiring from the military, due to diabetes, he was employed at the U.S. Postal Service until retiring in 2010 because of medical complications. Guy enjoyed cooking, reading (especially about World War II), and most of all spending time with his daughter. He cared deeply for his two cats, Holly and Mia, both rescue cats. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Lee Cemetery with Guy's nephew, Todd Binion, officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. At Guy's request, there is no visitation. Memorial contributions are suggested to the local cat rescue organization, TLC Rescue, P.O. Box 112, Clearfield, KY 40313. Local arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: o visitation.
