Grover Cleveland Roe, 85 years old, of Lexington, passed away on October 23, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born February 5, 1929, in Elliott County and was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Roe and Ruth Ada Johnson Roe and stepson of the late Clyde Bruce. He is survived by his two daughters, Beverly and husband Doug Moore of St. Louis, Missouri; Kimberly and husband David Briggs of Mason, Ohio; and his four grandchildren, Lauren Moore, Alex Moore, Ellen Briggs, and Natalie Briggs. Survivors also include his companion, Patsy Morgan of Lexington. Grover loved his childhood home in Morehead. He played basketball for the Morehead Vikings and the 'Morehead All Stars' Independent Team. Grover served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked 16 years at IBM in Lexington; Boulder, Colorado; and Tucson, Arizona; as a Manufacturing Engineer. He worked various contract jobs including work on the U.S. Space Shuttle with Morton Thiokol. Grover Roe was a member of the Morehead Masonic Lodge #654 for over 60 years. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 30, 2014, beginning at 12:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel. Dr. J. D. Reeder will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Thursday, October 30, 2014, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
