Grace Glenn Russ, age 103, of Bridge Street, Cynthiana, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at the Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana, her home for almost 11 years. She was born March 13, 1912, in Glenntown, a daughter of Will and Annie Derrickson Glenn. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Minnie Louise Black and Billie Mary Stanley; and her husband, Ethelbert (Bert) Russ, who passed away June 6, 2002. Grace is survived by two brothers, Wayne (Kathryn)Glenn of Lexington and Kent (Alicia) Glenn of Cynthiana; one sister, Bonnie Glenn of Lexington; one niece, Bonnie Westmorland; several great nieces and nephews and cousins; her Cedar Ridge family; and friends. Grace received her education at the Banneker School in Cynthiana and at an early age received Christ at Shady Nook Baptist Church. Grace and her husband Bert were longtime active members of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. While living in Detroit, Grace was employed by the Schubot family and was instrumental in raising their children from an early age until they were college bound. The relationship with the children brought her great joy and she spoke of them often. Grace was a stern orderly person believing that there was a time and a place for everything and that everything should always be in its place. She was always there with a helping hand for her sisters. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 205 N. Locust St., Cynthiana. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Newby officiating. Grace will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
