Obituary

Gordon Turner, age 70, of Main Street, Jeffersonville, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his residence. Born March 11, 1944, in Breathitt County, he was a son of the late Wesley Turner and Bertha Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Turner. Gordon is survived by his wife, Alma Black Turner, whom he married April 24, 2013; two sons, James Turner and wife Denna of Leander, Texas, and Tony Curtis of Bath County; four daughters, Nancy Coffman and husband Ben of Fishersville, Joanna Curtis of Bath County, Teresa Sexton and husband Frank of Mt. Sterling, and Amanda Crouch and husband Mike of Bath County; and 11 grandchildren. Other survivors include one brother, Wayne Turner and wife Barbra of Beattyville, and one sister, Eliza Nobel of Jackson. Gordon was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from Rockwell in Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers.
