Obituary

Avory Gordon Lambert, 75, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, and Citrus Springs, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Clearfield. He was born April 18, 1938, in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Luster and Martha Jane McBrayer Lambert. Survivors include his wife, Virginia 'Ginny' Riddle Lambert, whom he married June 24, 1967; six children, Charles R. Lambert of Melbourne, Florida, Laurie L. Lambert of Morehead, Todd Avory Lambert and wife Ruth of West Liberty, Tammy S. Funderburg and husband David of Lake Jackson, Texas, James E. Lambert of El Paso, Texas, and Diane Jackson and husband Marc of Morehead; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and his faithful 'doggie' companion, FeFe. Other survivors include one brother, Michael Lambert and wife Jan of Shelbyville; one sister, Carol Tapp and husband Tom of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews. Gordon attended Breckinridge Training School and served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army from 1956-66. An entrepreneur by nature, Gordon enjoyed several vocations. He was a GTE employee in Morehead and later a police officer and chaplain at the Morehead Police Department. For years he was a self-employed truck driver and owner of home satellites. He also built the 3rd Ku Band Satellite Uplink truck for broadcasting live news feeds for ABC, NBC, CBS and ESPN, including presidential campaigns on the road, and sports. Gordon finished his career as a corrections officer at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex in West Liberty. He loved gardening, working with wood, tinkering with 'broken anything,' traveling, and most of all, family dinners. Private services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Tim Rhodes officiating and masonic rites by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654. Burial will be in the McBrayer Cemetery with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Todd Lambert, Tim McBrayer, Marc Jackson, David Funderburg, Toni Coppola, and Jamie Brumley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McBrayer Cemetery Fund, c/o Diane Jackson, 685 Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, KY 40313. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Funeral: Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Private services Interment: McBrayer Cemetery
