Goldie Trent Hitch, age 91, of KY 173, West Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Elliott Nursing and Rehab Center in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. She was born May 27, 1921, in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John Harvey and Minnie Slone Trent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters, Sabra Trent, Rena Trent, Nola Stigall, and Recia Trent, and six brothers, Atlee, Ersel, Corbia, Henry, Orbia and Odie Trent. Her husband, Chester Hitch, passed away on June 16, 1970; a son, Glennis 'Bill' Hitch (husband of Rebecca) on June 26, 1988; and a great granddaughter, Bridgett Hitch on March 10, 1982. Mrs. Hitch is survived by five daughters, Vivian Mae Adkins (wife of the late Claude Adkins) of Morehead, Kentucky, Evalena and Don Wendell Horton of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Shirley Jones of Dayton, Ohio, Karen 'Gay' Dalton of Morehead, Kentucky, Joyce and Stephan Pennington of Morehead, Kentucky; six sons, James and Judy Hitch, Chester, Jr. and Ava Hitch, Michael Hitch (husband of the late Mary Hitch), Charles 'Tony' and Diana Hitch, David and Fhonda Hitch, Darrell and Rhonda Hitch, all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; 26 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. Goldie's life always centered on her family. She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, and gardening, but most of all, loved spending time with her family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Winston McClurg and Rev. James McGlone officiating. Burial will follow in the Hitch Cemetery in Elliott County. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
