Gloria L. Eagle Perry, age 77, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born February 21, 1933, in Ferndale, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Alice Blackmore Eagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, three sisters, six brothers, and one grandson, Jason Perry. Mrs. Perry is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joe C. Perry, whom she married November 25, 1949; one daughter, Catherine Allred and husband Mel of Johnstown, Colorado; two sons, Robert J. Perry and wife Sue of Morehead, Kentucky, and James H. Perry and wife Susan of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jenny Gatlin and husband Kent of Harvest, Alabama, Mandi Rose and husband Dave of Morehead, Kentucky, Lori Fensler of Milliken, Colorado, and Jacqui Lorick and husband Robert of Columbia, South Carolina; ten great grandchildren, Kammy, Hailey, and Grant Rose, all of Morehead, Kentucky, Bret Isenhoff of Alabama, Bella and Lexi Fensler, both of Colorado, Jared, Jada, Julie, and Jacob Lorick, all of South Carolina; and four brothers, Ivan Eagle, Gerald Eagle, Dave Eagle, and Norman Eagle, all of Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Perry moved to Morehead in 1958 where she worked for many years caring for others in the Morehead area. She was the first nurse-s aide to work at St. Claire Hospital when it opened July 1, 1961. She later received her LPN license and training at St. Claire Hospital where she worked until 1968. She worked from 1968 to 1971 at Daniel Boone Life Care Center and the Morehead Clinic from 1971 until she retired in 1983. Mrs. Perry was a member of the Lakeview Community Church. She was a valuable asset to the Morehead community and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Lakeview Community Church with Brother James Allen, Pastor Mike Clark, and Brother Greg Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Moore, Dennis Perry, Steve Perry, Greg Gilliam, Bill Coble, and Jack Hughes.
