Glenn B. Poston, age 87, of West Sun Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born February 21, 1924, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Harrison Poston and Bessie Beatrice Flannery Poston Gilkison. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ray Gilkison. Glenn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maxine McKenzie Poston, and two sons, Mark Poston and his wife Jane and Randall Poston, all of Morehead, Kentucky. He is also survived by two brothers, Billy Gilkison and Robert Gilkison, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Betty Gilkison of Jacksonville, Florida. Glenn graduated from Morehead High School and following his military service attended Morehead State University for 3 - years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation (1 Star) and Unit Commendation Ribbon. A highway construction engineer, Glenn retired from the KY Department of Transportation. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed photography and traveling, and was a member of the Johnson First Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Furman and Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Rick Hesterberg, Larry Law, Andy Fannin, Joe Baber, Tanner Hesterberg, and Nick Pecco. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, December 28, 2011, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
