Glenn Charles Manning, age 93, of High Ridge Lane, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Kentucky. He was born July 1, 1919, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, a son of the late Commodore and Lula Gregory Manning. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda Manning; one brother, Albert Manning; and one sister, Gladys Downs. Glenn is survived by one daughter, Garnett Brandenburg of Morehead, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Beverly Gambill of Morehead, Kentucky, and Christopher Manning of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two brothers, C. M. Manning of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Stanley Manning of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister, Theresa Jacobs of Lexington, Kentucky; several devoted nieces and nephews; extended family; and many friends. Glenn was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the State Department of Transportation and was a former maintenance employee at Morehead State University and the University of Kentucky. He was a well-known musician who enjoyed traveling throughout the area playing his fiddle and guitar, both as a solo performer and as a band member. His lifelong musical talent, his great cooking and joking personality, and his strong work ethic will be remembered by all who knew him. Glenn had a great love for the Lord and was a member of Poplar Plains Christian Church and the First Church of God in Fleming County. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. George Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery with military honors conducted by W.N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Visitation is 1 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate cash donations.
