Glen M. Thomas, Jr., age 67, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. Born October 21, 1947, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Glen M. and Dorrah Withrow Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kay Thomas and Glenda Martin. Glen is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joy James Thomas; four siblings, Helen (Rex) Johnson of Winchester, LeeAnna Davis, Patricia Thomas, and James Everett (Pam) Thomas, all of Morehead; two sisters-in-law, Diane James and Cindy James, both of Duluth, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Glen was a 1966 graduate of Rowan County High School. He also graduated from Morehead State University and Eastern Kentucky University where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice. He began his career as a Law Enforcement Officer at Cave Run Lake for the Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service. Glen became the first Special Agent Trainee for the U.S. Forest Service in Florida in 1981 and his first Special Agent assignment was for the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. He was then assigned to the George Washington/Thomas Jefferson National Forests in Virginia, and returned to the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky in 1994. Over the course of his career, Glen was honored with several awards and commendations, spending the last several years as Supervisory Special Agent for the Appalachia HIDTA Program when he retired in 2003. His leisure time activities included hunting, fishing and woodworking. Glen was a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. J. D. Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery on Messer Road. Pallbearers will be Phillip Hardin, Gary Trent, Bob Brown, Jim Nickell, Josh Brown, and Dallas Plank. Nephews Dean Martin, Andy Martin, Michael Thomas, and J. W. Thomas will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation is 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. Visitation: Tuesday, April 14, 2015, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. Interment: Moore Cemetery, Messer Road, Morehead
