Gladys Fern Sloan Hensley, age 73, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. She was born January 25, 1937, at Laurel, Kentucky, in Rowan County, daughter of the late Carl Matthews and Ada Sloan Crisp. Her husband, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Hensley, preceded her in death on September 8, 1968. Mrs. Hensley is survived by one son, Shannon Clay Hensley, and one daughter, Jackie Lynn Hensley, both of Silver Spring, Maryland, and two granddaughters, Jaclyn Renee Hensley and Ashley Marie Werner.Mrs. Hensley was a homemaker and former health care specialist at the Great Oaks Center of Maryland. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the Trent Cemetery with the Rev. Cledith Dehart officiating. Pallbearers will be Jackie Dillon, Dean Dillon, Jimmy Dillon, Chris Dillon, and Danny Dillon. Visitation is Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
