Obituary

Georgene -Jean- Turner Stamper, age 75, of Freestone Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born September 7, 1936, in Elliott County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John L. Turner and Della Mae Gibson Turner. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Marion Stamper on July 21, 2004, and her son, John Stamper on September 15, 2004. Jean is survived by one son, Jeff W. Stamper and his wife, Jackie Tackett Stamper, and two grandchildren, Jaylah RaShelle Stamper and Jeffrey Tyler Stamper, all of Morehead, Kentucky. Other survivors include a brother, Willis Turner of Tollesboro, Kentucky; a half brother, Jerry Ropp of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one niece, Sharon Thomas of Tollesboro, Kentucky. Jean was a former cook at University Breckinridge School and retired from Morehead State University, Cornucopia Foods Laboratory. Following retirement, Jean was a devoted caregiver to her son John for 21 years. She enjoyed gardening and canning, tending to her flower garden, and cooking. More than anything, Jean loved and enjoyed her two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers: Jeffrey Stamper, T. J. Chin, Joe Qualls, James Qualls, Chuck Davis, and Josh Davis. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130 Visitation: Monday, January 16, 2012, after 4 p.m. Funeral: Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Mausoleum
