George Wilson, Jr., age 65, of Gary, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, in Gary. He was born October 12, 1942, in Hammond, Indiana, and is the son of Leora Thomas Wilson of Gary, Indiana, and the late George Wilson. Besides his mother, George is survived by one brother, Judson W. Wilson, and one sister, Eula Jean Wilson, both of Gary, Indiana; and four nephews: Audie (Laurie) Herron of South Carolina, Joe Carl Andrews, Jr. of Portage, Indiana, Howard (Hazel) Jarvis of Tennessee, and Shawn Jarvis of New Jersey. Mr. Wilson was retired from LTV Steel in East Chicago, Indiana, with over twenty years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as an M.P. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana. He was an avid churchgoer, loved nature, and also enjoyed riding his bicycle and running marathons. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008, at the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery on Christy Creek Road with full military rites conducted at the gravesite by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Shawn Jarvis, Judson W. Wilson, Joe C. Andrews, Jr., Howard Jarvis, and Audie L. Herron. Visitation with the family is after 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
