George "JR" Back, Jr., age 82, of US 60 West, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

Born August 16, 1939, in Olive Hill, he was the son of the late George Back, Sr., and Anna Fyfe Back.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

On March 21, 1960, he was united in marriage to his wife of 49 years, Eva Lou Evans Back, who passed away July 3, 2009.  He is survived by one son, Brent (Lisa) Back of Clearfield, Kentucky; two daughters, Dana Back-Pack of Lexington, Kentucky, and Jowana (Randy) Fritz of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and five grandchildren, Jacob Fritz, Seth Fritz, Braden Back, Cade Back, and Piper Back; three great grandchildren, Abe Fritz, Emmitt Fritz, and Liza Fritz.

Other survivors include one brother, Johnny Back (Rebecca Williams) of Olive Kill, Kentucky; three sisters, Joan Hall of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Madge Lankford and Gail Counts, both of La Grance, Kentucky; extended family and friends.

As a young man, JR was a farmer who began by helping his father raise cattle and tobacco.  He became a butcher by trade and worked at Kroger in Lexington for a number of years and in the late 70's established Back's Auto Sales & Garage and was in business until 2004.

JR enjoyed attending car shows, going to flea markets, mowing his yard and spending time with family—especially attending family dinners.  He was a member of the Globe United Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with son-in-law Randy Fritz officiating.  Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Carter County.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Fritz, Seth Fritz, Brent Back, Braden Back, Cade Back, Joey Back, and Tim Jessie.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the service at 12 noon Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
