Geneva Flippo Mirus, age 88, of Louisville, passed away February 19, 2016, at Golden Living Center Camelot in Louisville. Mrs. Mirus was born November 18, 1927, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to Joseph Mitchell Flippo and Ora Shaffer Flippo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters; her former husband, Matthew O. Mirus; and her son, Timothy Allen Mirus on March 19, 2014. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Mitchell and Robin Mirus of Morehead, Ky. and their children, Stephen, Joseph, and Adria, as well as three great grandchildren, Gavin Mirus, Brayden Mirus, and Quincee Alderman. Mrs. Mirus operated Skateland Restaurant in the early 60's, a popular place to eat and roller skate in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She and her sons later moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she began her career with Hartlage Fence Company. She retired from Hartlage Fence Company as office manager/bookkeeper after many years of service. She came out of retirement and went to work for Martin Flooring, a Louisville company as an office manager and bookkeeper for several years. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother whose life focused on family, church, and work. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting and was a wonderful cook. She also loved to travel and made wonderful memories with friends and family, J. T. and Martha Baker of Nashville, as they visited many southern and western states throughout the years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Graveside services and interment will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Housier Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, with Colin Leighton officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the Oldham County Funeral Home, 706 W. Jefferson Street, La Grange, KY 40031, ending with words of comfort and prayer by her Church of Christ pastor, Greg Gravitt.
