Geneva 'Darlene' Middleton Vise, age 77, of Watson Road, Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. Born December 31, 1939, at Sharkey in Fleming County, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas 'Tom' Middleton and Nancy Elizabeth Gulley Middleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Earsel, Wilbert, Troy, and Delmo Middleton; four sisters, Merle Thomas, Delphia Middleton, June Elam, and Peggy Middleton; and son-in-law, Bobby Hall. Darlene is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Russell Vise, whom she married December 16, 1963; one son, James Russell Vise, Jr. and Patricia of Flemingsburg; two daughters, Rhonda Vise Hall of Flemingsburg and Geneva Jo Lewis and Ricky of Sandy Hook; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters, Patricia (Darlene's special sister) Hayes and Wayne of Monroe, Ohio, Bonnie Brabant of Goshen, Ohio, and Mary Elizabeth 'Libby' Cox and Craig of Wallingford; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Darlene was a machine operator at U.S. Shoe in Flemingsburg for 23 years. Fishing was one of her favorite pastimes and she and Jim enjoyed sightseeing and traveling to fish in Canada, Florida and other places. She was an avid U.K. Wildcat fan and enjoyed collecting butterflies and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the old Sharkey Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers: Kenton McCall, Dillon Jones, Josh Lewis, Rick Lewis, Brandon Eddington, and Justin Doyle. Honorary pallbearers: Russ Vise, Bob Vise, Mark Follmer, Rick Lewis, Sr., Sherman Royse, and Dave Reynolds.
