Gene Edward Johnson, age 41, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, at his residence. He was born April 29, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio, and was the son of Bobby Johnson and Shirley Terrell Johnson of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and the late Patricia Conley Young of Knoxville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Sydney Brianna Johnson, and one son, Dalton Patrick Johnson, both of Knoxville, Tennessee. Also surviving are one brother, Rick Johnson of Portsmouth, Ohio, and three sisters, Tammy Darby and husband Jeff of Bucyrus, Ohio, Penny Bowman and husband Johnny of Morehead, Kentucky, and Glenda Meredith of Wichita Falls, Texas. Gene was a 1984 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School where he was a member of the baseball and football teams. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley and the Rev. Dave Keeton officiating. Burial will be in the New Alfrey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Buckler, Jeremy Darby, Jareb Darby, Jonathan Bowman, Michael Hardin, Sean Johnson, Greg Jackson, and Robbie Barker.
